Conveniently situated 50 miles from Athens, Corinth is the gateway to the Peloponnese, an area rich in natural beauty and historical sites. Ancient Corinth, just outside the modern city, is an important archaeological site, where St Paul stayed for eighteen months. Above the ancient town towers Acrocorinth, the acropolis of Corinth, a spectacular site used throughout the middle ages as a fortress by a succession of Byzantine, Venetian and Turkish occupiers.
The modern city of Corinth is the regional capital, and has all the facilities to make your stay enjoyable, including numerous outdoor cafes, bars and restaurants, several beaches, and services such as travel agencies, banks and hundreds of shops. There are excellent transport connections, with buses to Athens at least every hour, and frequent trains and buses connecting Corinth to the surrounding towns and villages.
Corinth is an excellent base for touring, set among many unspoilt beach resorts. Loutraki is a spa town renowned for its mineral water and clear blue sea, as well as the casino and nightclubs. Vrahati is one of the many smaller coastal villages that combine relaxing days on the beach with vibrant nightlife. The stunning sites of Mycenae, Argos, Nafplio and Nemea are all a short bus ride away, as is the theatre of Epidavros, where performances of ancient tragedies are held during the summer festival.
The Via Lingua training centre is ideally located in spacious air-conditioned premises in the centre of the city. For the summer courses, there is a choice of accommodation in Corinth, a short walk from the centre, or in beachside apartments in Vrahati, a 20-minute bus ride away. Wherever you choose to stay, we'll meet you at Athens airport at the start of the course, and take you back at the end at no extra charge.
